Favorite Moment(s):

Anytime after we finish a program, the team and I take time to celebrate. Those are my favorite moments. Details of the celebrations are sealed to protect the not-so-innocent.

What have you done to be a better Yahoo?

I try to be a better Yahoo by emulating Jerry Yang’s hairstyle and David Filo’s sense of personal style.

Are you able to think big at Yahoo? How?

I take big, calculated risks that bring out the personality and purpleness of Yahoo! I’ve had to ask legal to write additional insurance riders to cover the risks taken, but at the end of the day, all of ‘em have paid off. Only at a place like Yahoo! can you see your wildest, biggest, boldest ideas come to life!

What specific Yahoo! project has made the biggest impact on you and why?

There are a few that come to mind. Here’s a quick list: Biggest impact on my waistline: Yahoo!’s Ten Year anniversary where we gave away ice cream to our users. Our partner, Baskin-Robbins sent me tubs and tubs of ice cream as a thank you. I ate every bit. Gained 80 pounds. Biggest impact on my career: When we built a Yahoo! Shopping store in Rockefeller Center, I learned so much about building out retail spaces and put so much time building the space, I almost earned a workers union card! Union = steady paycheck! There’s more in common between marketing and plumbing than you think. Biggest impact on my life: Half of the people at my wedding were people I’ve met and worked with at Yahoo!. Either this is a tragic statement about my personal life, or, I like to think, it’s a reflection on how special this place, and the people are.

What made you choose Yahoo! as a place to work?

I didn’t choose Yahoo!. Yahoo! chose me. I was really happy at the job I was in when the Yahoo! opportunity came around. I wasn’t looking for a job. I soon realized that the opportunity Yahoo! had approached me with was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Some place to have a career, not a job. I guess that’s why I happily chose Yahoo! as a place to work.
