Favorite Moment(s):
The first is the day I realized that I finally knew what all the important Yahoo! acronyms stood for. I also love every time I meet a Yahoo I didn’t know before and realize that, not only are they really smart, but they’re someone I’d want to have over for dinner.
What have you done to be a better Yahoo?
I’m proudest of all of the opportunities I’ve had to help other Yahoos get into new and bigger roles when the time was right. There are so many types of jobs and so many different groups at Yahoo!. There’s no end to the options for growing your career and even completely changing tracks. I’ve helped finance people become business development people and business development people move into strategy roles…in every case, it’s been a great move for the individual—and the company.
Are you able to think big at Yahoo? How?
Every day. Thinking big at Yahoo! isn’t just about the next great idea. It’s about thinking beyond your role and working collaboratively and quickly across the company to get things done in the best possible way for Yahoo! and our customers. There’s no single path to the right answer or outcome here. There are hundreds of ways to get there and the best input may come from the least likely place.
What specific Yahoo! project has made the biggest impact on you and why?
Helping define Yahoo!’s strategy on how to take our leading position in online display advertising beyond our own properties by partnering with some of the other best publishers on the web was an incredible experience. The project literally touched every part of Yahoo! in every region in the world.
What made you choose Yahoo! as a place to work?
Yahoo! is an amazing brand with a wonderful set of offerings. It isn’t just a utility, it doesn’t just provide a product or a solution—it provides an experience that even my mom can’t live without. How many jobs in the world give you the ability to influence and take part in something this integral to daily life, while working with so many committed, fun and talented people?
