About Yahoo! Custom Brand Experiences
Yahoo! Custom Brand Experiences is the team responsible for delivering custom advertising experiences – one-of-a-kind ads, unique microsite experiences and interactive advertiser content and modules integrated into Yahoo! properties. Our goal is to create ad experiences that engage users and please advertisers in an efficient, scalable way. We build revenue-generating user experiences, and we do it on-time and on-budget.
The Custom Brand Experiences team is looking for a Director of Product Management who can lead development of compelling “wow” experiences for advertisers that are also scalable and reusable. This position requires someone who is passionate about great marketing and great online user experience, deeply familiar with online brand advertising and who can balance the needs of advertisers, users, and content producers from a variety of properties, as well as understand the under-pinning technologies required to make our work efficient, scalable and reusable.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the product vision for Custom Brand Experiences – how do we build crazy great advertiser programs that are engaging, viral and effective for marketers and users…but also quick-to-market and reasonably-priced.
- Lead and manage the Product Management team which is responsible for defining platform capability requirements / priorities, working with Y! properties (like News, Sports and Finance) to enable turnkey integration of advertiser programs, as well as product management on specific advertiser programs (working with engineering, design, project management, property teams, editorial, etc.).
- Lead and manage the User Experience design team (both interaction and visual design) for both platform capabilities (defining templates and modules) as well as project-specific design work (for individual advertiser programs).
- Prioritize templates, modules as well as platform features and capabilities in collaboration with Engineering.
- Maintain product roadmaps for the Custom Brand Experience team.
Job Qualifications
- Leadership, Vision and Market Savvy
- 3+ years managing a team of product managers and/or designers
- Proven ability to deliver products that make users happy…and advertisers renew.
- Ability to articulate a vision for brand marketing online
- At least 5 years of online advertising experience
- At least 5 years of online consumer product experience
- Experience building consensus around a product vision
- Technical Product Management
- Proven ability to deliver products from concept to implementation - on-time, on-budget, and with a focus on scalability, reliability, and usability
- Ability to create and maintain product roadmaps
- Strong understanding of web portal design principles, usability, navigation, content organization, web 2.0 features, and related web site development processes
- Ability to form relationships and lead a cross-functional team consisting of engineers, project managers, ad sales, QA, and content producers
- Experience identifying, tracking and measuring success criteria
- Ability to juggle multiple project and tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate solid organization, prioritization, and negotiation skills
- Strong self-management skills
- Education
- BS/MS degree preferred
- MBA desirable
