Global Ad Products Group is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Product Managerto help drive forward Yahoo!'s Display Targeting Products. Currently Yahoo! has developed strong uses of its internal data to develop targeting products that are used to make advertising more effective - and inventory more valuable - all across the Yahoo! network. Targeting products include those that use registration-based data (age, gender, geo, etc.) as well as those that use behavioral data. As Yahoo! transitions from an owned-and-operated property business to a wider ad network business, we need to be able to identify, prioritize and acquire relevant supplies of data about consumer commercial interests and activities. This data will be used to fuel the engines of advertising that account for Yahoo! revenues.
In this role, you will be responsible for detailed product strategy, market requirements and product definition. Your primary responsibility will be to help define the products and strategies on data-driven targeting products for advertisers and products required to acquire and take advantage of new sources of data from external partners or internal sources such as with the Y! Profiles.
You will work on product definition, market opportunity assessment, launch, roll-out, collateral development and sales support. This position works closely with Engineering, Business Development, Ops Fin, as well as Marketing. In this role you will evaluate market opportunities, product requirements, available resources, and develop product plans accordingly. Acting as an internal product expert, you will work closely with peer Product Managers to guide development of products and platforms, and take a leadership role by coordinating efforts between other cross-functional teams as necessary. You will be responsible for developing and presenting product plans and proposals to senior management, as well as providing day-to-day product support to field sales and business development as needed.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Gathering field data to plan and design future Targeting products leveraging data
· Developing business plans and product positioning in the marketplace
· Developing contents for Case Studies, White Papers, and other product collateral as needed
· Writing MRDs (Market Requirement Documents) and PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) to define requirements internally
· Competitive and market analyses
Experience, Education & Required Skills:
· 5 - 8 years experience in product management and/or product marketing in a technology field, preferably in the interactive advertising, internet products/services, data management, or software.
· Proven success in managing products, launching new products or services and building broad-based support for new ideas from concept phase to market introduction and beyond
· Strong passion for customers, advertisers and publishers and advocating on behalf of them to build products that delight and exceed expectations
· Proven track record in informing and strongly influencing the product development process with customer insights, the ability to interpret user needs into product requirements
· Experience in building & selling business cases for new products and new business opportunities
· Ability to demonstrate thought leadership among internal and external audiences, particularly for new product categories
· Superior ability to grasp strategic issues, see products in their broader context, present plans and opportunities cogently, and focus and motivate highly-matrixed, cross-functional teams to execute with speed and excellence
· Experience with direct marketing, segmentation, and targeting would be helpful
· Ad/Interactive Agency experience would be a plus
· Strong leadership & management skills
· Excellent presentation and writing skills and ability to successfully sell ideas and interact across functions and at all levels of an organization
· BA/BS required. MBA preferred.
