The Metrics Delivery Analyst will be part of the Operations Management team, which reports to the EVP leading the Service Engineering & Operations group. The Operations Management team is focused on driving cross-organization planning and execution against Yahoo!’s top tech operations priorities.
In this role, the Metrics Delivery Analyst will be responsible for development and delivery of executive dashboards and reporting. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of business intelligence development experience in one or more platforms such as (a) Business Objects or (b) MicroStrategy. The candidate will also need strong SQL skills, presentation design.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop business and operational reports – using either Business Objects or MicroStrategy.
- Work with internal clients to understand and define reporting requirements
- Provide guidance and insight on business intelligence and reporting best practices
- Translate business goals into measureable and actionable objectives and make recommendations on tracking, reporting, benchmarking and analysis in order to measure performance against objectives
- Document reporting requirements and define report template and dashboard specifications
- Coordinate internal and or external resources building out dashboards, automated reports and report templates
- Assist in the management of end user testing and acceptance as well as customer support in providing post-implementation support and maintenance
- Leverage industry best practices and methods
- Establish, maintain and ensure adherence to application standards for data reporting and extracting.
- Ensure adherence to corporate data security requirements for the storage, transportation and retention of data
Required Experience:
- 3 + years relevant experience with Business Objects (MicroStrategy also desireable).
- Business Objects expert with solid 3+ years experience. Creating Business Objects universes, and BO Full Client and WebIntelligence reports.
- Experience migrating legacy Crystal reports to Business Objects.
- Advanced Universe development using aggregate aware, contexts for multi subject Universes; derived tables, complex measure using functions, complex logical counts, and averages.
- Advanced report development including a solid understanding of Webi and Deski; the ability to create complex reports that could require multiple data providers; drillable reports through hierarchies and by report link through hyperlinks.
- BO XIR3 administration including user/group security, application security, data row level security, scheduling and distribution strategies, and BI architecture knowledge (incl. maintenance and support).
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience working with a business team to define requirements for a BI/DW initiative.
- Experience using Excel, Oracle, MySQL, and Business Objects features to extract, refine and report data from diverse data sources; specific experience using data warehouses and data marts preferred
- 2 Years experiences working in a Data Warehousing environment
- Working knowledge of Data Management related to data governance, data definitions, and data modeling
- 2 Years experience gathering Business Requirements for Data Warehouse
- Prior experience designing and building logical data models
- Ability to effectively communicate at different levels in and across the organization and to articulate to non-technical audiences the advantages and disadvantages of using various technologies and standards
- Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities, strong focus and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
- Must be self-motivated, self-reliant, and a self-starter with the ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives under a minimal amount of supervision
Desired Skills
