Possible Future Job: Senior Software QA Engineer
Yahoo! is possibly seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Software QA Engineer with strong technical and QA background to participate in the release of Yahoo! projects. The Engineer will define test strategy, execute test plans, review product specifications, and define/select appropriate test tools and automation strategy.
Job Responsibilities/The Role/The Job:
The Engineer would utilize problem solving and programming skills to build tools and create test scripts used for Web Services API and UI Automation for enhancing efficiency in different stages of product cycle. The Engineer would work on interesting, challenging and unique problems at Yahoo!. Besides building tools, the Engineer’s responsibility also includes functional, load and performance testing and analysis of Front-end and API level systems. The ideal candidate would have a strong track record of leveraging automation, developing new tools/automated test suites, evaluating test coverage, providing high-quality feedback on the state of the product while building a strong working relationship with the development team.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
• Solid 7+ years of outstanding track record as a developer and/or Senior Automation QA engineer.
• Active team participant with strong technical and personal leadership skills.
• Competent in Unix operating system.
• Competent in developing QA automation framework and tools (eg. PHPUnit, Selenium, TestNG).
• Fluent in Java and scripting languages (eg. Unix Shell Script, Javascript, PHP, Perl).
• Experience in AJAX, HTML and XML.
• Strong experience in Web Services – API testing.
• Hands-on experience in test harness and tests automation development for back-end areas.
• Experience in Continuous Integration tools (eg. Hudson).
• Experience in Code Coverage tools (eg. JSCV, PHPUnit).
• Experience in White Box (Unit Testing)
• Experience in load and performance testing of web applications (eg. JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Expert in QA methodologies, procedures & documentation.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Customer-focused, ability to triage issues, react well to changes, work independently or with teams and being able to multi-task on multiple products and projects.
• Self-starter, team player, highly organized, infrastructure and process-oriented.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferable Job Qualifications:
• Experience in backend server and/or system level programming is a strong plus.
• Experience in Web Monitoring, Profiling, is a plus.
• Experience in Web Application Security testing is a plus.
• Experience in QA Lead/Project Management skills is a plus.
• Experience working with remote development and QA teams.
