We are seeking a talented, highly-motivated individual interested in furthering their career as software engineers, working on the systems that comprise Y! Production Operations. We are looking for engineers to help us build tools to reliably deploy, administer and monitor many of the largest and most popular sites on the Internet. We need software engineers with an absolute focus on quality and scalability to help us keep the site up and running and provide our users with the best experience

Key Activities and Responsibilities
The position is a software engineer for our infrastructure and shared services group.
You will help design, develop and test the mission critical world-wide services that underpin Yahoo's business and the tools that manage them.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
¨ Strong knowledge of Perl.
¨ Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, programming languages, algorithms, software engineering, database theory, and system security.
¨ Experience with object oriented software design and development.
¨ Good knowledge of software engineering life cycle processes.
¨ Experience developing highly available, distributed systems.
¨ Experience with source code control systems and processes.
¨ Good knowledge of Internet application architectures and Protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc. ).
¨ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
¨ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
¨ Ability to balance and prioritize work tasks in a complex and fast-moving environment
¨ Self motivated to take ownership of projects and able to effectively manage their own time without immediate supervision
¨ Willingness and ability to teach and train others
¨ Ability to accept constructive criticism via peer review
¨ Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
¨ Advanced degree in computer science is highly desirable.
Other Qualifications
¨ BS in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
¨ 5+ years hands-on experience with software development.
¨ Experience with C, C++, PHP, or shell scripting.
¨ Experience with agile software development processes.
¨ Experience with test-driven development and continuous integration.
¨ Experience with pattern-oriented design.
¨ Experience with Linux/FreeBSD server administration and open source software.
