Summary:
The Lab Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of Yahoo's Systems Engineering and Operations testing and QA infrastructure. The environment is used by Engineers to test Database, Network, Server and Storage platforms and related software. There is a large cross section of hardware and software solutions representing our production and corporate deployments.
The candidate must be able to work closely with architects, engineers, vendors, and various operations teams to help build their testing environments. This includes being able to setup base configurations on a wide range of networking hardware, server cloning, filer setups. Lab policy and procedure will be defined by this individual, as well as enforcement.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Architecture and Operations to define test strategies
- Build testing environments with engineering
- Inventory management
- Creation and maintenance of a check out system
- Hand all hardware shipping and logistics
Qualifications:
- Experience with routers/switches, good knowledge in TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, QoS/CoS
- Hands-on testing experience in NAT, Firewalls, Load Balancers, IPSec, IDS, ALG, SIP, VoIP, L2TP, Multilink etc.
- Experience with network testing equipments such as Ixia, Agilent and Spirent a plus
- Linux, FreeBSD, or unix experience
- Programming skills in Perl, shell scripting, C
- Capability to lead as well as work in a team.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in BSEE/BSCS or equivalent.
