Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
* Experience with firewall technologies and VPNs
* Experience resolving DDoS and other types of network integrity attacks
* Experience implementing network security policies
* Experience or knowledge of Linux (RH) and or FreeBSD specifically with IPTables, IPFW, etc.
* Experience working with scripting with Perl and Shell to increase automation and efficiency
* Bonus: Experience with MySQL
* Experience or knowledge with Netscreen, Juniper, Cisco, Force10 hardware
* Experience working in an incident response workflow
* Experience working with Access control lists at an ISP class environment not just enterprise level
* Experience working in a world wide Operational environment
* Experience working with centralized authentication systems (TACACS, Radius)
* Solid base experience with Network security fundamentals (Transitive trust, Security policies, and encryption)
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
* Work with Information Security Engineers to ensure compliance of solutions with corporate security policies
* Work with internal customers to develop network solution requirements during scope definition phase of project
* Work with internal customers to develop technical solution during solutions design phase
* Work with Technical Project Managers to understand project priorities and help sequence network engineering components accordingly
* Communicate within project teams to set network engineering deliverables and expectations (time/resource requirements)
* Effectively identify and communicate risks during course of projects
* Work with Information Security Engineers to ensure compliance of solutions with corporate security policies
* Provide detailed solution documentation
* Coordinate with NOC to ensure appropriate monitoring of new solutions is included as part of roll out
Daily and/or Operational Responsibilities include the following:
* React to alerts of attacks and take necessary actions to stop or divert the attack and protect Yahoo! assets.
* Ensure the continuous availability of all data network services
* Respond to escalations, tickets, and alerts from NOC and Helpdesk issued to network engineering in a timely manner. Provide resolution information and work with other teams to complete impact analysis where appropriate
* Provide comprehensive and maintenance plans for change management review and approval, implement according to plan
* Lead projects internal to network engineering team to improve security of network
*Triage, build, push ACL files daily
* Use Siebel ticketing system to track and document work efforts
* Participate in ''On Call'' rotation
Other Assignments include the following:
* Research and analysis of new tools and technologies to improve existing solutions
* Participate in cost/benefit analysis process
