About Business Unit:
The Yahoo! Operations Center is opening a brand new facility in Lockport, New York, which will serve as the central monitoring organization for Yahoo! worldwide. Our new data center in New York will be one of the greenest, and most energy-efficient in the world. First, it will be powered by one of the cleanest utilities in the country – fed predominantly by renewable hydroelectric power from Niagara Falls. And second, a record 90% of that energy will power the servers. The facility will have a unique building design that we call the Yahoo! Computing Coop (because it looks like something chickens live in), which is angled to take advantage of Buffalo’s microclimate, using 100% outside air to cool the servers.
The Operations Center will be responsible for monitoring and supporting all outage related events. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to drive the resolution of any service-impacting events within the Global Yahoo! Infrastructure. You will play a key role by coordinating operations and engineering teams in order to identify and triage outages, verify service impact to the users, send out status updates, dispatch the appropriate subject matter experts and identify root cause to implement a fix.
